Notes from the 4/30/06 St. Louis Spector Club Comic Show

Yikes! I'm late, I'm late, I'm late!!! I've had a damned cold for the last week now, and I'm behind on everything again! Anyhow, let's tarry no further, and get on to the news from the latest St. Louis Spector Club Comic Show!

The show was on Sunday, April 30 (Yes, I'm late with the news!). It was a somewhat melancholy day for a comic show as nature decided to play a hand against us (the dealers) with a fair amount of rain. Traffic was down overall, and we're hoping that the next show in June will be a fair weather day.

Here's a couple pics I took of the hall about 1/3 of the way thru the show:

We still had a lot of great stuff show up from all the dealers. Gold & silver galore, it was a fanboy's dream. On top of that, with the slow amount of traffic, it was a buyer's market for sure.

Todd & sons from Comic Relief had two tables full of TPB's and HC's. They all started at 60% off, and went to 75% off halfway thru the show. I personally bought a large stack of goodies including Alan Moore's Swamp Thing Volumes 1-5. Thanks again for the wonderful deal!

As usual, our resident vinyl expert, Carl Koelker, had a table full of golden age classics. Here's a look at just a few of them:
Captain Marvel Jr. #31

Captain Marvel Adventures #66

Captain Marvel Adventures #125

Jungle Comics #9

Jungle Comics #10

Local comic shop owner Mark F. from Mo's All-American Comics was there selling gift certificates to his store. He was offering $20 worth of merchandise for $10.

Original owner of Mo's, Bruce, had a table full of pulps this time around for sale:

Local dealer Troy Neely showed up with yet another batch of gold and silver books form a collection he'd recently purchased. He never fails to amaze the lot of us...

Here's SAGA president Dave R. showing off Troy's Captain America Comics #72.

Fantastic Four #10

Giant-Size X-Men #1

Human Torch #33

Incredible Hulk #5

Incredible Hulk #181

Journey Into Mystery #83

Shock Suspenstories #6

X-Men #2

So, Troy... When are you going to just give me all your comics?

Ok fellow comic geeks, one more pic for the road. Here's Eric Meyer and I posing with a couple of my slabs. The pic was taken by SAGA's Mike Phoenix. Thanks Mike!

Thanks again to everyone who setup tables, and everyone who attended the show. I'll see you all in June!
